RURAL AND REMOTE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE TRANSFERS TO COUNTRY HEALTH SA
The
Public Service Association (PSA) as a key stake holder in SA Health
Services has received advice from Country Health SA (CHSA) that SA
Health Portfolio Executive has approved the transfer of the operational
management of the Rural and Remote Mental Health Service from the
Central Northern Adelaide Health Service (CNAHS) to CHSA.
The rural and remote service provides a mental health clinical and
teaching service for communities in country South Australia and
includes :
Acute inpatient care
Distance consultation services
Coordination and management of mental health specialists
Clinical services to remote Aboriginal communities
An initial meeting to discuss the transfer was held on Tuesday 1
September 2009. PSA was represented by PSA Industrial Officer Sue
Cummins, along with PSA members Pam Quick and Andrew Livingstone.
CHSA and CNAHS will be working together to undertake a due diligence
process to understand the functions, services and resources, workforce
establishment and supporting infrastructure of the Rural and Remote
Mental Health Service.
It is expected that this process will take approximately two (2) or
three (3) months to complete. Once this has been completed,
consultation will commence.
In the meantime, a further report will be provided to Key unions at an
Industrial Liaison Committee meeting scheduled for Monday 28 September
