JOB CREATION
The PSA welcomes the Premier's announcement that he proposes to create 100,000 jobs.
The public sector comprises 12% of the South Australian workforce and
accordingly, the PSA calls upon the Premier to immediately confirm that
12% of the 100,000 jobs will be created within the public sector.
On this basis, the PSA expects 12,000 additional jobs will be created in the South Australian public sector.
Further, in view of the Premier's commitment to training level jobs,
the PSA seeks an immediate commitment from the Premier that additional
traineeships and apprenticeships will also be created by Government
within its own workforce.
“The public sector age profile is significantly higher than the
private sector and it is essential that Government act to remedy
this” said PSA General Secretary, Jan McMahon.
