DISABILITY SA OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SAFETY & WELFARE CONCERNS Further to the PSA's Brief of 12 February 2010, the PSA referred the concerns of Disability SA Service Coordinators to the Industrial Relations Commission. A Voluntary Conference was held, at the Commission on 5 March 2010, which was attended by PSA Members and PSA Industrial Officer. In DFC's submission to the Commission, they stated that as writs had been issued for an Election (placing the current Government into 'caretaker mode'), the Department would be unable to make an adequate response to the PSA's claims. The matter was adjourned until the 30 March 2010, after the Election. At the request of members, the PSA's Industrial Officer, Sue Beaumont, attended a meeting at the Gilles Plains Office on 10 March 2010, to discuss the outcomes of the Voluntary Conference. At the meeting the members identified Occupational, Health Safety & Welfare (OHS&W) concerns and the strategies needed to be put in place to ensure all PSA Members are working in a safe working environment. It was agreed by PSA Members at that meeting, that all Service Coordinators across the Agency, affected by these OHS&W concerns, be invited to a meeting next week to discuss the current OHS&W issues. Prior to the meeting, it is suggested that all members consider what changes have taken place to allow these unsafe conditions, and what strategies can be taken by members to ensure their safety in the future.
