HEALTH - FINANCE SERVICE INTEGRATION PROJECT

On Wednesday 5 May 2010, PSA Senior Industrial Officer, Dolly Costello met with John O'Connor, Executive Director Finance and Administration together with Etienne Scheepers, Executive Director, Workforce Development Department of Health. The meeting was scheduled to provide the PSA with an update on the Finance Service Integration Project.

The draft structure, in-scope positions, identifies 424 FTE. This is comparable with the Ernst and Young report. There is a proposed staffing level of approximately 300 FTE. This number of staff has been determined taking into account system capability, standardised processes and procedures, a single point for distribution and reporting, with career development and succession planning.

PSA expressed concerns about the impact of any cuts to positions within health services, and continues to receive reports from members in Finance areas of growing work demands and high levels of work stress.

A schedule of staff information sessions is being planned by the Department of Health across SA Health to provide all staff of Finance areas with an update. Members should make every effort to attend.

The PSA will continue to oppose these job cuts and work to protect members' jobs and careers.
