PEER ASSESSMENT PROCESS IN FAMILIES SA

The Public Service Association (PSA) successfully negotiated for there to be a process for members employed in the Allied Health Professional (AHP) Stream to progress from AHP 1 to AHP 2 in the South Australian Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2010.

PSA contacted the Department for Families and Communities Human Resources Director in April 2010 and raised the need to establish the Peer Assessment Panel urgently as clause 1.5 of Schedule 1.21 A Translation Arrangements (pg 49) of the 2010 EA, requires that service at the 5th increment, both PO1 & AHP1 be counted towards the 12 month period at the top increment AHP1, for the purposes of being eligible to apply for a Peer Assessment Panel assessment to progress to AHP 2.

There should therefore be a number of employees, AHP1, level 5, since 1 st pay period on or after 14/01/10 who would be eligible to apply and a number who soon will be.

PSA pointed out that these employees need to be advised of their eligibility.

PSA was advised that the Manager, HR/DFC is dealing with the implementation of the AHP process.

PSA subsequently wrote to the department, seeking assurances that no employee will be disadvantaged and payments will be back dated should an applicant be successful in their application.

In the meantime, PSA suggests that members who are eligible, or who will be eligible in the near future, send an email to their line manager, applying for assessment.
