HOSPITAL BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING SERVICES REVIEW.
The
PSA has become aware of the completion of a draft report regarding the
development of a regional structure as it relates to the Biomedical
Engineering Service.
Following preliminary discussions with PSA members at Biomedical
Engineering at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Lyell McEwin Hospital,
there are concerns regarding the report thus far, namely:
The Review is seen as a cost cutting exercise by members.
The methodology utilised to compare costs and assets maintained is flawed.
Inadequate resourcing levels.
Inconsistency of classifications across CNAHS.
What is the status of the Department of Health Statewide review of
Biomedical Engineering that was commenced several years ago and has
never been reported on?
The PSA has written to the Chief Executive of the Department of Health
seeking a meeting with Agency representative to discuss the above. The
PSA has sought a formal copy of the draft report that has recently been
completed.
