DISPUTE UPDATE - CONSULTATION IS A RIGHT, NOT A PRIVILEGE
On
Thursday 9 September 2010, PSA members met via a phone link up to be
provided an update on the dispute regarding the ”Do It For Life
Program”.
Members within the "Do It For Life Program" remain concerned that
whilst SA Health may wish to advance its position relating to the
development on Human Resources Processes to "assist" with the loss of
some twenty (20) positions within the program, no opportunity was
provided for affected employees to contribute to the decision making
process.
As advised in the PSA's notification of dispute letter of 30 June 2010,
SA Health's behaviour in this matter is a clear breach of the current
Enterprise Agreement.
At Thursday's link up, the following motion was unanimously endorsed:
"that this meeting of PSA members condemns SA Health for it's continual failure to consult genuinely on this matter."
“It is beyond belief that SA Health, on one hand, advises,
without consultation, the cutting of 20 jobs, and on the other; somehow
believes it is adhering to established consultative principles.”
Members have an expectation that SA Health will consult in good faith, not simply advise what will be done.
