BUDGET CUTS - WORKLOADS
As
the effects of Budget cuts become more obvious PSA members are
increasingly reporting that pressure is being placed on them to work
extra hours without remuneration or access to flexi-time or other
flexible working arrangements.
As Budget pressures continue PSA members need to ensure their goodwill
is not being used by Managers who may be unwilling or feel powerless to
report genuine staff shortages.
It is an offence to encourage employees to falsify their time sheets by
not recording actual hours worked, regardless of budget restraints.
Employees are increasingly reporting that they are being asked to work
additional unpaid hours for the benefit of their team or
patients/clients.
You CAN NOT be directed to work unpaid time. Falsifying time sheets can
have a number of ramifications in relation to workers compensation
claims, planning ahead for future staffing budgets, your own health and
well being and that of the patients and clients you serve. Professional
human resource managers acknowledge their responsibility to fellow
workers in ensuring workloads are being managed in accordance with
Enterprise Bargaining agreements. It is essential that the welfare of
management's most importance resource, YOU, is paramount.
