Senior PSA officials today met with the Treasurer, the Hon. Jack Snelling.

The PSA was represented by President Lindsay Oxlad, General Secretary Jan McMahon and Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher.

Key issues discussed were:

Redeployment

The PSA advised its support for the whole of Government redeployment process to be managed through the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Senior Management Council.

This change has been advocated by the PSA, as the management of the public sector workforce needs to occur on a whole of Government basis without the difficulties currently experienced in attempting to place displaced employees.

Retention of Experienced Staff

The PSA recognised that discussions were occurring between the PSA, SA Unions and the Treasurer's office and highlighted the importance of this matter being progressed quickly and positively. 

Job security was highlighted by the PSA as an important factor to be taken into account in policies aimed at retaining skilled public sector workers.
