The Public Service Association (PSA) and other stakeholders attended the Red Cross Blood Service of SA (RCBS SA) Collective Agreement bargaining meeting on Monday August 15 2011.

Stakeholders provided feedback in regard to the revised offer. Members had raised concerns in regard to provision for employees that may be “pegged” due to the revised structure to receive percentage increases and a 1.5% lump sum as part of the agreement. The RCBS SA provided clarification and assurance “pegged” employees would receive percentage and 1.5% lump sum payments. Employees will receive with the Collective Agreement correspondence to confirm such arrangements.

The RCBS SA will be sending employees a copy of the proposed agreement for ballot as soon as 17 August 2011. The RCBS SA will also be notifying employees of the commencement of information sessions to outline the agreement and its contents from 18 August 2011. Information sessions are to be conducted throughout 18, 19 & 22 August 2011 at the Benson Hall. The RCBS SA will forward the appropriate details.

It is proposed that an electronic ballot will be conducted from Friday 26 August 2011. Employees will have the opportunity to vote electronically on Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Monday 29, 2011.
