CFS EMPLOYEE WORKING PARTY UPDATE
On
Wednesday 24 August 2011 the SA Country Fire Services (CFS) and the
Public Service Association (PSA) held their Employee Working
Party (EWP) consultative meeting at the PSA.
A lengthy and at times intense discussion was had over clause 28.1.3 of
the current Enterprise Agreement (Review of working arrangements of CFS
operational staff).
For some time now EWP representatives and the PSA have been attempting
to hold regular meetings with SAFECOM representatives over this Review,
recent reductions in staff at SAFECOM have not helped this process.
On the 19 July 2011 the PSA wrote to the Chief Executive of the
Attorney Generals Department (AGD) seeking his assistance in
progressing this matter.
AGD referred the matter back to SAFECOM in order to ensure the Review progresses expeditiously.
During initial talks with SAFECOM it has become quite clear to the PSA
that SAFECOM do not have the staff and resources to support this
Review. However the PSA will, early next week meet with senior
SAFECOM – HR representatives to determine a way forward.
The EWP in an attempt to keep this issue moving forward will in
early September be holding a 1 day workshop at a venue to be confirmed.
The EWP will be encouraging member participation to ensure members have
their input in regard to this review.
