DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH CENTRAL OFFICE OH&S STRUCTURE UPDATE

Members of the Public Service Association (PSA) have recently raised numerous concerns regarding Occupational Health and Safety compliance within the Central Office of the Department of Health in CitiCentre. In particular, members are concerned about the Occupational Health & Safety Committee structure, along with the lack of Occupational Health & Safety training.

In response, PSA Acting General Secretary Nev Kitchin and Industrial Organiser Vy Vo have met with Acting Director of Workforce Health Deb Sykes and Regional OHSW Manager Filio Vogiatzis.

It was confirmed that SafeWork has been invited to attend the worksite.

During the meeting, it was confirmed that an Occupational Health and Safety Committee meeting will be scheduled in November. Over the next few weeks, Workforce Health will be inviting employees to become members of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

The PSA strongly encourages members to nominate themselves to be involved in the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. The PSA have offered to attend the quarterly Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings as non-voting participants.

The PSA were also assured that Occupational Health & Safety training for managers and staff is currently being scheduled and the dates will be provided shortly.
