MODBURY HOSPITAL UPDATE
Public
Service Association (PSA) Industrial Officer Alan Wheeldon and PSA
Worksite Representative Lynn Markwick, met recently with Modbury
Hospital General Manager Lynne Cowan.
Concerns
1.Security screens for level 5 ward clerk's station.
2.After hours access through main entrance.
3.Security access to front of house and switchboard areas.
4.Rotation of staff Between Modbury & Lyell McEwin.
Discussion
Lynne advised that she would ask Jason Barden to undertake a full
review across all wards of security requirements. He would also get
quotes for the work needing to be done, as a matter of urgency.
Signs are to be place outside the main entrance to advise the public
that entry to the hospital after hours (23.00 to 07.00) is
through the Emergency Department.
Swipe card access is to be assessed for front of house areas including
switchboard, which currently do not have any security in place.
Members have expressed concern that they feel vulnerable with the
current arrangements.
The rotation of staff between Modbury and Lyell McEwin will be reviewed
as some services will be moving to G.P.Plus which is located next to
the Hospital and is due for completion in early 2012. Sharing of
services and some staff has been in place for some time, however with
the many changes evolving through out health, this situation may change.
Conclusion
Lynne has indicated her willingness for regular meetings with PSA to resolve any issues that arise.
The PSA will report back to members once a reply from Lynne is received on these current issues.
Members are reminded that on site PSA meetings are held regularly and a new list of dates for 2012 will be sent out shortly.
