SPEED CAMERA CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY

The Public Service Association will target speed camera revenue from today as part of its campaign for a fair and reasonable wage rise for South Australia’s public servants.

PSA General Secretary Jan McMahon again called on the State Government to urgently intervene to avert an escalation of industrial action.

Lands Titles Office staff have banned overtime until further notice after being requested to work weekly overtime to deal with a backlog of house and land sales.

From today PSA staff will target the Government’s speed camera revenue by highlighting selected camera locations around the metropolitan area with signs urging motorists to drive safety.

“Our members are well aware of the recent pay rises awarded to judges (12.5%), the Government's own political staff (average of 11% with some increases as high as 20%) and other public sector workers in the health sector (4%).

“The government negotiators do not have the authority to increase the current offer which is why the PSA is again calling on the State Government to intervene.

“Industrial action is certainly not the preferred negotiating method of the PSA or its members.

The PSA wage claim is for 6 per cent a year over two years. The Government is offering 3 per cent.
