OFFER REJECTED
At 9.30am today the PSA was provided with a 'revised' government offer
- a 3.5% per annum pay increase with an additional payment to base grade
employees and 8 weeks paid maternity/adoption leave. (This in place of
the previous offer of 3% per annum and 6 weeks paid maternity/adoption
leave.)
This is considered inadequate and insulting to public sector workers.
The PSA has consistently made it clear to the Government that members
expect and deserve a significantly improved Enterprise Bargaining deal.
Following advice of this offer, the PSA Wages Committee met and
resolved that:
Given the latest Government Wages offer is neither fair nor reflects
the value of the Public Sector to the community,
1- The PSA Wages Committee rejects the Government's revised offer as
totally inadequate and endorses the escalation of industrial bans across
the Public Sector commencing immediately, and
2- The PSA calls on the Government to reconsider its position and
provide a fair Enterprise Bargaining deal that properly reflects the
value of the Public Sector to the community of South Australia.
Current bans are to remain in force.
Discussions with PSA Worksite Representatives in all Wages Parity areas
are proceeding for the implementation of additional strategic
industrial bans across the membership as authorised at last week's
meeting of Worksite Representatives.
PSA members will continue their involvement and support for the
campaign, in order to achieve a fair Enterprise Bargaining outcome.
Keep in touch with your PSA Worksite representative for further
information on the campaign and ways that you can assist.
