SERVICES OFFICERS JOIN WAGES CAMPAIGN South Australian
prisons will be locked down from today as Correctional Services
Officers stage rolling stoppages as part of an escalation of
the Public Sector Wages Campaign.
Correctional Services Officers will walk off the job from 1.00 pm to meet and consider further industrial bans. “The impact will not only be felt within prisons, but throughout the justice system, as significant court delays are now expected to occur.” “The Government offer amounts to 3.5 per cent with a top up for low paid workers. PSA members expected a significantly improved offer.– Ms McMahon said “ A range of new bans including overtime bans across the public sector will now be considered”. Bans already in place as part of the PSA campaign include: * Public Servants no longer collecting maintenance bills on public housing - action which is estimated to cost the Government up to $60,000 a week. * Speed Camera Operators refusing to replace film in fixed cameras or operate mobile cameras as part of rolling stoppages. * PSA members highlighting selected speed camera locations around the metropolitan area with signs urging motorists to drive safely. * Land Titles Office staff banning overtime delaying property and land settlements including stamp duty revenue to the State Government. * Road Transport Inspectors banning shift work and court appearances to prosecute road transport breaches. * Free public entry to all State Library tours including the popular Bradman Tour with staff no longer collecting fees for any of its tours until further notice. The PSA claim is for 6 per cent per annum for two years. The Government is offering 3.5 per cent. PSA - DELIVERING ON WAGES AND
