POLICE SUPPORT STAFF JOIN WAGE CAMPAIGN

Police support staff have joined the campaign for a fairer wage deal for the public sector refusing to process and collect revenue for a range of administrative requests, in a further escalation of the PSA Wages Campaign.

Industrial action includes rolling bans on the processing and collection of fees for police security clearances and Freedom of Information applications.

PSA General Secretary Jan McMahon said support staff at the Port Adelaide Police Station have walked off the job today, and other stations will implement bans.

The Port Adelaide Station will not be staffed by support staff today with members to consider further rolling stoppages”, Ms McMahon said.

The Government has now had our members' wage claim for over five months”.

The PSA has made it very clear to the Government that members are prepared to undertake targeted and prolonged industrial action to achieve a fair and reasonable wage outcome”.

The PSA urgently calls on Industrial Relations Minister Michael Wright to reconsider the current offer”.

Other PSA bans to continue include:

  • Staff at the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science are refusing to process Medicare forms for blood tests costing the State Government up to $20,000 a week.

  • Speed camera Operators refusing to replace film in fixed cameras or operate mobile cameras as part of rolling stoppages.

  • PSA members highlighting selected speed camera locations around the metropolitan area with sign urging motorists to drive safely.

  • Public Servants no longer collecting maintenance bills on public housing, which is estimated to cost the Government up to $60,000 a week.

  • Land Titles Office staff banning overtime delaying property and land settlements including stamp duty revenue to the State Government.

  • Road Transport Inspectors banning shift work and court appearances to prosecute road transport breaches.

  • Free public entry to all State Library tours including the popular Bradman Tour with staff no longer collecting fees for any of its tours until further notice.

  • Family and Youth Services banning some Court reports.

  • Prisoner transport restrictions.
