EB UPDATE 2004
PSA this morning met Government negotiators at a PSA called meeting to progress Enterprise Bargaining negotiations. General Secretary, Jan McMahon, President, Lindsay Oxlad, Councillor Jenny Lee, together with industrial staff, represented the PSA at the meeting. PSA members have made it clear that while rejecting the current Government offer, they did expect a fair outcome and recognised that PSA may need to negotiate for a figure of less than 12%. After consideration by members of Executive and the Wages Committee, the following “without prejudice” proposal was put to Government negotiators: “While recognising
that the PSA claim of 12% over 2 years has been formally endorsed and
remains unchanged, PSA negotiators note, that while rejecting the current Government offer of 3.5% pa, members have indicated a preparedness to accept a fair offer, and accordingly PSA is prepared to recommend to members acceptance of a double digit offer which is less than 12%, in conjunction with finalisation of conditions matters.” A further meeting has been scheduled for 2.30pm Tuesday 10 February, to enable Government negotiators to seek instructions and respond. PSA has made very clear the consequences of an inappropriate response. PSA FIGHTING FOR A FAIR
