ENTERPRISE BARGAINING 2004
RALLY AN OVERWHELMING SUCCESS

Over two thousand PSA members attended the membership rally today at the Dom Polski Centre.

Members came from all over the state to show their support for the wages campaign. It was very apparent that members were not put off by management tactics in some areas to deter people from attending the rally.

Members unanimously supported the following motion:

"that this meeting:

Notes the vital role of the public sector, and the essential need for a public sector of the future that can service community and Government needs,

Declares that such a public sector must be properly resourced, and receive fair wages and conditions,

Rejects the current Government EB offer, and

Determines to continue the campaign to achieve a fair deal, with the campaign to include a public sector wide stoppage."

Yesterday, members in 15 Regional centres also supported the motion.

The PSA will now develop the strategy to implement this resolution and continue the campaign to achieve a fair wages deal. The date of the state-wide stoppage will be determined in consultation with members at worksite meetings.
