PSA members have been offended by the
Premier's attack on the PSA and other unions, as reported in today's
media.
The PSA has not personalised the issue
and will continue not to. The PSA is prepared to meet with the
Premier. Despite numerous requests to meet, a meeting has not been
organised.
Government has failed to recognise that the reason that members are
campaigning is that they are not satisfied with how they have been
treated by their employer, and insulted by the amount and
discriminatory nature of the Government's EB offer.
The PSA has shown leadership in the management of the campaign, but the
campaign itself only exists because members genuinely care. The PSA plays a vital role as the "public
face" of the campaign, but it is members who are taking action, in ever
increasing numbers.
While the Government appears to regard the current campaign as a
personal affront, the Public Service Association has a long history of
effectively representing members irrespective of which political party
is in Government.
PSA members want a fair and reasonable outcome. It's not a lot to ask.
Show that you care! Members are encouraged to ring, visit or write to
their local Member of Parliament to ensure that they do understand your
concerns, and to help them recognise that PSA members want a fair
outcome.
The Government appears to believe that this is a PSA issue. It is in
fact a PSA members issue. A fair wages deal for Government
employees. A Public Sector which provides a career structure for young
people and graduates.
The PSA will continue to campaign on
matters of Public importance, including Child Protection and Youth
Employment.
South Australia needs a Public Sector for
the future, providing valued services to the community and assisting
with economic development.
