WORKSITE VISITS

As reported to members earlier this week, the Industrial Relations Commission will sit on the 27th May.  This hearing will provide the PSA with the opportunity to put forward submissions arguing that the Award application be dismissed and that the current Government offer should go out to ballot.

The Minister for Industrial Relations, Michael Wright has not improved his offer of 4 per cent to some Public Sector workers, and 3.5 per cent to others, including Professionals and Graduates such as Child Protection workers, Social Workers, Medical Scientists and Dental Technicians since 10 February 2004. He will not negotiate and will not allow members to exercise their democratic right to ballot.

Members continue to reject the offer and want the Government to value employees by improving the offer to 5 per cent p.a.

Industrial Officers are currently scheduling worksite meetings across the Public Sector, to ensure that all members are kept informed and have an opportunity to put forward their views. Members will also be able to ask questions and have any concerns clarified.

If you would like to have a meeting in your worksite, please email Gayle Peak, Acting Chief Industrial Officer on
gp@cpsu.asn.au

An Industrial Officer will contact you and organise a meeting at a convenient
time for your worksite.
