ENTERPRISE BARGAINING 2004

As advised previously, on Thursday 27 May 2004, the South Australian Industrial Relations Commission will conduct a further hearing in relation to the State Government's application for a new Award.

All employee representatives support the PSA's position that the current Government's offer go to ballot. The Minister for Industrial Relations has consistently stated that the current offer of 4% to some workers and 3.5% per annum to others is both fair and reasonable.

Members have made it abundantly clear that as that Government has put forward its final offer, then the opportunity ought to be provided for all relevant employees to participate in a ballot to determine their future wages and conditions.

Government's argument against a ballot deprives employees of this democratic process.

On Thursday 27 May 2004, both the Government and employee representatives will be given the opportunity to provide evidence and detailed submissions on their respective positions.

PSA members are continuing to maintain their demand for the Minister of Industrial Relations to withdraw the application for a new Award and return to the negotiating table.
