INTERIM
AWARD
The PSA appeared before Deputy President Hampton in the SA Industrial Relations Commission today to deal with issues relating to the Interim Award. Members have been previously advised of the Government position seeking a variation to the draft Interim Award in relation to such matters as the Date of effect and No extra claims clauses. PSA, consistent with the IRC Decision, and past Agreements, has shown 1 October 2004 as the date of effect. Government is wanting this changed to 'the first pay period on or after 1 October 2004', thereby delaying payment. Government Advocates today presented further arguments in support of their views. PSA advised the Commission that the draft claim, as submitted by PSA, was consistent with the Commission's decision and that it was inappropriate for the Government to re-argue the case. Deputy President Hampton advised that he will now consider all the submissions and material that has been put to the Commission and has listed the matter again for Friday, 29 October 2004. On Friday the Commission is expected to rescind the Parity 2001 Enterprise Agreement, and the Legal Services Commission and Land Management Corporation Agreements, and also to formally make an Interim Award. Actual
payment of the 3.5 per cent increase can only occur after the Interim
Award is formally made. 8205 3200 or email pgc@cpsu.asn.au PSA RECRUITMENT PROMOTION
