FULL BENCH REJECTS GOVERNMENT'S DELAY APPLICATION

Earlier today, PSA General Secretary, Jan McMahon and Chief Industrial Officer, Peter Christopher appeared before the Full Bench of the South Australian Industrial Relations Commission following a Government application to vary Directions given by the Commission on 17 December 2004 regarding the timetable for the wages and maternity leave arbitration.

Specifically, Government wanted the date that it was required to provide an outline of the wages case to be delayed until one week after the PSA submitted its outline.

The Full Bench rejected the Government application.

Case outlines are to be submitted to the Commission by all parties by Friday 21 January 2005.

The Association also sought a new order from the Commission for discovery of documents relating to Chief Executive contracts, which include agency performance data measured against key performance indicators. A Government submission that this discovery matter be considered by the Commission on Friday 24 December 2004 was also rejected.

The Government is required to provide written submissions to the Commission regarding this matter prior to the Full Bench ruling on the PSA application in late January 2005.
