HIGHER EDUCATION PROTEST OVER INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS CHANGES

PSA/CPSU is concerned at the impact of the Federal Government's Industrial Relations Agenda upon the Higher Education Sector, including Universities and TAFE.

The ACTU has endorsed protest action. The action, however, will vary from State to State. It is noted that the NTEU and AEU have arranged activities on 1st June 2005. PSA/CPSU members should respect the work of members of another Union while they are absent from work.

PSA/CPSU will participate in the ongoing campaign against Federal Industrial Relations changes. Details of specific action will be determined in conjunction with members and worksite representatives.

In the Higher Education Sector the Federal Government is already acting to link provision of funding to its Industrial Relations Agenda.

The Government Agenda aims to significantly downgrade workers rights and entitlements, and to move away from collective Agreements to Individual Contracts.
