YOUR RIGHTS AT WORK, WORTH FIGHTING FOR RALLY DATE: THURSDAY 30 JUNE 2005 TIME: 12 NOON VENUE:
SENATOR AMANDA VANSTONE'S OFFICE As of 1 July 2005, the Federal Government will take control of both Houses of Parliament. The Howard Government has stated its intention to dramatically change Australian Workplace Laws. These changes will affect PSA members and their families. Radical changes are proposed which threaten your rights at work. Entitlements such as reasonable pay and conditions, protection against unfair dismissal and a fair system for dealing with workplace issues and differences (i.e. the Industrial Relations Commission) are under enormous threat. PSA members are asked to come to the above rally and unite with fellow workers and the community to highlight the disastrous outcomes that will result from the Federal Government's proposed changes. Protests involving other unions and community groups will also occur throughout Australia in the last week of June 2005, including at other SA venues. In coming weeks, PSA Industrial Officers will be conducting information sessions in major worksites to explain the proposed Federal Government workplace changes. Further information regarding this matter, including a PSA PowerPoint presentation, is available from the News Flash link on the PSA website. Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact PSA Industrial Officer, Simon Johnson on 8205 3261 or spj@cpsu.asn.au
