FULL BENCH HEARING RE: NO EXTRA CLAIMS CLAUSE

PSA appeared before the Full Bench of the Industrial Relations Commission on 22nd August to finalise submissions regarding the No Extra Claims Clause in the proposed Salaries Award.

PSA had put submissions during the lengthy arbitration process in support of salary increases, paid maternity/adoption leave (PMAL), and the life of the Award, and accepted that it would not pursue extra claims regarding these arbitrated matters.

It was submitted by PSA today that a No Extra Claims Clause that went beyond those arbitrated matters was not appropriate. Accordingly, PSA has sought a No Extra Claims Clause in the new Award that was limited to Salaries, PMAL and the duration of the Award.

Government opposed the PSA proposal. The Bench has allowed 14 days for the PSA and Government to provide submissions prior to the making of the Award.

This process will not delay the payment of any salary increases due, as the salaries schedules have been varied in the earlier Interim Award.
