MINISTER HILL MEETS WITH PSA PROFESSIONAL MEMBERS The Hon John Hill MP, Minister for Health, Environment and Conservation, Southern Suburbs, and Assisting the Premier in the Arts, met with PSA Professional members as guest speaker at the inaugural PSA Professional Division meeting today. The packed meeting was attended by professionals from across the public sector, including Allied Health Professionals, Scientists, Social Workers, Librarians, Legal Officers and Researchers. Regional professionals attended and participated via phone link. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to hear the Minister speak of his background as a Public Sector worker, his vision for the Health portfolio, and the linkages with other Agencies. Members were able to ask questions and make comments on issues they deal with daily as professionals. The meeting was also a chance for the PSA Professional Division to meet with members and seek input on priorities for 2006, including Enterprise Bargaining and the issue of automatic progression from PSO1 to PSO2. The issue of review and improvements to the classification structure has already been put on the Agenda by PSA. Some of the issues discussed included equity between agencies and with the private sector, job satisfaction, workloads, access to professional journals and conferences, multiclassification positions, the need to improve the professional classification stream, professional support, recognition, recruitment and retention, and country incentives, particularly in regional South Australia. Thank you to all members who attended and participated. Future meetings and forums will be scheduled to continue to address these and other issues. Your suggestions are invited for future speakers and events.
