CPSU/PSA ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT TO BE REGISTERED IN STATE JUSRIDICTION.
The Howard Government’s Industrial Relations changes will negatively impact on education workers. At the expiration of the current Federal Certified Agreement, current class sizes, NIT, leadership and administration time, PAC, behaviour management resource allocations, transfer and placement, and numerous other matters may not be able to be protected by an Industrial Agreement under the new Federal Industrial Relations system.
The CPSU/PSA sought to have this Enterprise Agreement registered in the State jurisdiction. This has now been recognised by all parties as appropriate in the circumstances. The move to the State jurisdiction will not effect SSOs conditions of employment or wage increases provided by the current Federal Agreement.

SSOs should now have received their ballot papers from DECS and the CPSU/PSA urges SSOs to vote yes to the new State registered Enterprise Agreement.

USE OF TIME BANK FOR PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

Part time SSOs who receive a term time loading should be aware of the new clause negotiated by the PSA in the current Enterprise Agreement regarding use of time bank for public holidays.

Clause 40.4.4 of the SA Education Staff (Govt Preschools, Schools and TAFE) Certified Agreement states, " From the commencement of the 2006 school year, part time SSOs who receive a term time loading, are able to access their time bank for a public holiday that falls at the beginning or the end of the school term."

This clause is particularly relevant for the Easter school holidays when Easter falls at the beginning or end of the school holidays as it does in 2006. Previously, SSOs were unable to access their time bank for this time.  Please be aware that if Easter falls in the middle of the school holidays then this clause would not apply.

If you have any questions or queries regarding this, please contact Kerrin Martin,
PSA Industrial Officer, on 8205 3292 or at kjm@cpsu.asn.au
