HOUSING, FAMILIES & DISABILITY SERVICESThe PSA was invited to attend a meeting with Minister Jay Weatherill at Parliament House yesterday. Unfortunately, due to unexpected Parliamentary business, the Minister could not meet. Instead, the PSA met with the Minister's Chief of Staff. The PSA was represented by President Lindsay Oxlad, Acting General Secretary Nev Kitchin, PSA Councillor Steve Callaghan, Chair of the Housing Job Reps Committee Lesley Burford, Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher and Industrial Officer Vanessa Ravenhill. The PSA was advised of intentions to re-organise the Department of Families and Communities and Disability Services. Three documents were provided and each of these should have been made available to staff today. The documents are also available here. Ongoing presentations to management and staff are underway. At the outset, the PSA was assured that there would be no job losses nor loss of pay or conditions. In terms of the proposed structural changes, the PSA was advised that the rationale for the changes was to provide more streamlined access to services to the community and to reduce the number of Agencies that needed to be contacted to receive assistance. The information provided to the PSA was based on the information contained in the three memos previously referred to, and as such, is not repeated here. The PSA wishes to hear from members about the changes and any concerns that they have regarding the impact of the changes on both members and the community. Please provide this advice to your PSA Industrial Officer or by email to enquiry@cpsu.asn.au PSA - WORKING FOR YOU 3 May 2006 |
