DISABILITY SERVICES SA REFORM UPDATE NO. 1

The Public Service Association is ensuring that all issues and concerns arising from the Public Sector Reform in DFC including the proposed changes to the Disability Sector are addressed and/or resolved.

PSA has representation on the Disability Services HR Taskforce, chaired by Natalie Hamood. The Disability Reform Taskforce is yet to commence, but PSA Industrial Officer, Ms Sue Cummins, will represent PSA Members on that group.

PSA members are encouraged to access the various methods of communication within the Department to gain up-to-date information. Staff who do not have email/intranet access will have the information posted to them by the department. In addition to the regular updates, a series of monthly forums will occur and the PSA will be in attendance at those meetings. These staff forums commence on 5 July 2006.

Staff of IDSC, ILC and JFS will be receiving letters in relation to the formation of Disability Services SA, from 1 July 2006, and explaining any changes to employment arrangements. In addition to the 'Disability HR Transition Framework', which sets out the procedures for staff assignments and appointments to Disability Services SA, has been placed on the DFC intranet for consultation, with a time frame of two weeks. PSA members are encouraged to provide feedback immediately to both DFC and the PSA.

The next PSA Disability Focus Group meeting is being scheduled for Friday 14 July 2006, at 12:00 noon. PSA will be sending out an agenda shortly.

For further inquiries please contact PSA Industrial Officer, Sue Cummins, on telephone 8205 3260 or via email sc@cpsu.asn.au
