EB 2006 OFFER SUPPORTED

On Monday, 16 October 2006 PSA Council determined to advise Government of          PSA support for the recent EB 2006 offer.

Prior to the Council meeting, PSA Worksite Representatives from metropolitan and regional South Australia overwhelmingly endorsed the following recommendation:

That this meeting of PSA Worksite Representatives recommends to PSA Council that the Government EB 2006 offer be supported, and that formal membership consideration of the proposed Enterprise Agreement occur as soon as possible.”

As previously advised, the key elements of the Government offer are:

  • Salary increases of 3.5% per annum with effect from the first pay period to commence on or after 1 October 2006, 2007 and 2008.

  • 14 weeks paid maternity/adoption leave.

  • The current requirement to one week's acting prior to the payment of Higher Duties will be removed, subject to changed legislation.

  • Improved provisions will apply where a meal break is not taken after five hours.

  • A review of regional benefits.

In relation to Professional classifications, a restructure effective from 1 October 2006 reflects a significant improvement on current arrangements. These changes are expected to assist in the recruitment and retention of Professionals.

Additionally, recruitment and retention issues relating to Correctional Officers are being addressed.

Over the last week an overwhelming majority of members have shown support for this offer and look forward to early payment of the increases.

The PSA will continue to hold worksite meetings whilst further negotiations occur with Government to finalise the process for determining whether a majority of employees support the Enterprise Agreement.
