PSA MEMBERS WIN AGAIN

Due to the recent announcement that Julia Farr Services staff will be transferring from the SA Health Commission Act to the Public Sector Management Act, the PSA wrote to the Chief Executive of Julia Farr Services raising concerns that members employed as ASO-1 Clerical Officers would not be able to be assessed against the Health related ASO-2/ASO-1 Position Information Documents (as these were only to be used with Health Units).

The PSA was able to negotiate that staff employed as Ward/Floor Clerks, due to the uniqueness of the role, would be assessed by an independent person.  The outcome was successful and the Acting Executive Director of Disability Services SA has approved staff being reclassified to ASO-2.

Other recent areas where the PSA has been involved in requesting units reassess ASO-1 Clerical Officers against the Health Related ASO-1/ASO-2 PIDS are:

  • REPATRIATION GENERAL HOSPITAL - Ward Clerks successful in gaining ASO-2 classification

  • FLINDERS MEDICAL CENTRE - Medical Transcription Typists successful in gaining ASO-2 classification.

PSA members within health areas at the ASO-1 level are encouraged to speak to their manager first about reviewing their position.  If management are unwilling to do this then speak with your PSA Industrial Officer. The PSA also offers courses in 'How to do a Reclassification Application'. Information on these courses is available on the PSA website.

Any further queries, please contact PSA Industrial Officer, Sue Cummins, on telephone 8205 3260 or email sc@cpsu.asn.au
