VOTE YES

You should by now have received a ballot paper from the State Electoral Office in relation to the Government's Enterprise Bargaining offer. The ballot commenced on Friday 24 November 2006 and will conclude Friday 8 December 2006 at 9am.

The Government offer includes:

  • All existing conditions of employment maintained

  • Salary increases of 3.5% per annum, with effect from the first pay period on or after 1 October 2006, 2007 and 2008

  • 14 weeks paid maternity/adoption leave

  • Government commitment to review legislation to enable payment of higher duties allowance after one day

  • Restructure of Professional classifications and revised work level definitions

  • An allowance of $1400 p.a. for OPS 2 Correctional Officers who meet specified criteria

  • Government commitment to review regional incentives.

The only way to access these benefits is to Vote Yes for the Agreement. To be endorsed a majority of returned votes need to support the agreement. The PSA has requested if there is a clear majority in the ballot, the Government should take steps to implement the wage increases prior to certification in the State Industrial Relations Commission via an administrative act, therefore it is important PSA members indicate their support through the ballot process.

This offer is in addition to other wins secured by the PSA, including;

  • Renewed commitment to Job Security

  • Protection of conditions for members in corporations from WorkChoices

Do not assume the ballot will automatically be accepted, make sure it will by voting.

Remember, every vote counts. Vote Yes.

Copy of the proposed agreement and associated information can be accessed here.

Should you not have received a ballot paper, contact the State Electoral Office on 8401 4300.
