The completed PSO1 & PSO2 PID's have been with the Department of Health for signing off. The Public Service Association (PSA) have been advised that the Department of Health has signed off on the PSO1 and PSO2 PIDs. Chief Executive Officers of Metropolitan Hospitals and Health Centres and the Chief Executive of Country Health have been advised.

The PSA is now in the position to negotiate a review process with the relevant Regional Industrial Forums.

The correspondence from the Department of Health advises Chief Executives to notify their relevant Human Resource/Industrial Relation practitioners that the new PID's are endorsed to use across the health sector as a tool in classification determination. All Mental Health Social Work positions are to be reviewed against the PIDs.

This is a great outcome and hopefully goes a long way not only in acknowledging the level of work currently being performed by Social Workers in Mental Health but will assist in recruiting and retaining this part of the Allied Health work force.
