ENTERPRISE BARGAINING
OVERWHELMING YES' VOTE

The ballot for the South Australian Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement closed at 9.00am on Friday morning (8 December).

Preliminary trends indicate that over 90% voted 'yes' for the Agreement. This is an overwhelming endorsement of the PSA's position. This Agreement was overwhelmingly endorsed by PSA Regional and Metro Worksite Representatives and PSA Council on 16th October 2006. PSA members were seeking a fair wage outcome, improved conditions of employment, job security and an enterprise bargaining process which avoided a dispute and delay, and brought about these outcomes as quickly as possible.

Further advice will be issued to members once the official declaration of the poll has occurred later this afternoon.

Furthermore, the PSA secured paid maternity/adoption leave as of 16th October 2006.

Additionally, the Association has been advised that the Statute Amendment (Public Sector Employment) Bill, shielding public sector workers from WorkChoices, passed through the State Parliament late yesterday.

This means that groups such as Health employees, no longer will be subject to WorkChoices as they are direct employees of the Crown.
