WEEKLY PAID ENTERPRISE BARGAINING NEGOTIATIONS

On Wednesday 10 January PSA Industrial Officer Michael Thorpe together with representatives from other Unions and Government attended a Single Bargaining Centre meeting for the negotiation of a successor Enterprise Agreement for State Government Weekly Paid employees.

During the meeting the PSA confirmed the acceptance of the Government's offer for a new Enterprise Agreement to cover all State Government Weekly Paid employees.  PSA members who are Weekly Paid employees and who will be bound by the proposed Enterprise Agreement are generally employed as Security Officers, Ministerial Chauffeurs and Store staff.

The main benefits of the Government's offer include:

  • Enterprise Agreement to have a duration of 3 years.

  • Continuation of the No forced Redundancy provisions for the life of the Agreement.

  • Wage increases of $30 per week payable from the first full pay period 1 October 2006, 1 October 2007 & 1 October 2008.

  • 14 weeks paid Maternity and Adoption Leave.

  • 3.5% increase for On-Call allowance payable from the first full pay period 1 October 2006, 1 October 2007 & 1 October 2008.

  • Increase in paid Sick leave entitlement to 12 days per annum.

  • Ability to access up to 15 days per annum as Special Leave with Pay, as per the conditions prescribed in Commissioner's Standard 3.4 "Responsible and Safe Employment – Leave".

As the PSA supports the offer, the PSA urged the other Unions and Government representatives to promptly conclude their negotiations and enable the Agreement to be presented to staff for ballot as soon as possible.
