YOUR WELFARE IS PARAMOUNT
The Public Service Association is committed to securing healthy and safe working environments for all its members within the health portfolio. As previously advised, Members at the Western Assessment and Crisis Intervention Service have been, over recent months, exposed to unsatisfactory working conditions. Following PSA intervention, members have been temporarily relocated pending the full investigation and rectification of all health and safety risks. As a result of PSA action, the Acting Chief Executive of the Central Northern Adelaide Health Service, has advised the PSA “........at no time were carcinogenic chemicals used during fumigation. The products used were non carcinogenic and are derived from native daisy in Germany. The three products were Postages from BOC Aus, Coopex Dust and Crackdown from Bayer Australia Ltd”. Within Health, many members find themselves in unsafe working environments, but seldom realise or recognise that positive changes can be achieved. Issues such as accommodation, security, working environment, office space and workload are common concerns. Should members believe they are being exposed to unacceptable working conditions, it is essential that contact is made with your PSA Industrial Officer.
