DENTAL DISPUTE - WORK BANS LIFTED

The Public Service Association (PSA) held a meeting on Monday 9 July 2007 at 6:00pm for all PSA Dental Officers. PSA President Lindsay Oxlad, General Secretary Jan McMahon, Assistant General Secretary Nev Kitchin and PSA Industrial Officers were in attendance.

PSA Dental Officers passed the following motion, effective immediately:

"That this meeting of PSA Dental Officers notes the statement and recommendations of Commissioner Doyle on Thursday 5 July 2007.

Furthermore, this meeting of Dental Officers endorses the lifting of all industrial bans and limitations pending a substantive response by the Department of Health (DH) within 14 days addressing recruitment and retention issues within the South Australian Dental Service."

This is in response to the Commissioner Doyle's recommendations issued on Thursday 5 July 2007 in the South Australian Industrial Relations Commission:

  1. DH will provide as a matter of urgency, a copy of the SADS report of July 2006 relating to remuneration and retention issues;

  2. DH will make a substantive response to the PSA in respect of its claim which addresses remuneration and retention issues within SADS

  3. The PSA will recommend to its members that all current bans and limitations be lifted pending receipt of DH’s response to their claims.

    Commissioner Doyle also stated that the Government is to provide the PSA with the substantive response by Thursday 19 July 2007. PSA will advise its members as soon as a response is received and will call a meeting of Dental Officer members to discuss the Government's response.
