WORKPLACE SAFETY ISSUES AT PROPOSED DFC CONNECTED SERVICES CENTRE AT MT GAMBIER

PRINTER-FRIENDLY VERSION

On Thursday 12 July 2007, the Public Service Association (PSA) and Department for Families and Communities (DFC) Management met to discuss safety features of the proposed DFC Connected Services Centre planned for Mount Gambier.

At the meeting, the PSA sought commitment on the variety of issues including security doors, training for all staff, hazards injury reporting and fundamental security management.

Firstly, the PSA sought a commitment that the Chief Executive of DFC respond to the concerns raised in formal correspondence from the PSA last week. The PSA was advised that a formal response is forthcoming.

Whilst the PSA welcomes commitments from DFC regarding security plans and risk assessments, it is paramount that the Chief Executive of DFC formally respond to the PSA advising of a commitment to the security plan provided to DFC, which highlights various safety and security provisions.

The PSA is committed to the safety of its members in Mount Gambier. The PSA will continue to ensure members' entitlement to a safe working environment is adhered to.
