SHARED SERVICES

Members would be aware from previous briefs and recent media reports that the PSA has been persistently requesting details from the Government about its Shared Services proposal, particularly how it will impact on jobs and services. These requests have been made to representatives of the Shared Services Reform Office (SSRO), and recently in correspondence to the Premier.

Members are providing feedback to the PSA about how and when the changes are likely to occur, and understandably there was a need to have these confirmed by the SSRO to alleviate members' concerns. The PSA has received some details today from the SSRO which is contained in their latest newsletter, which can be found at http://www.treasury.sa.gov.au/ssro/current.html

These details include;

  • The initial priority services identified include Payroll Services, Accounts Payable and Receivable.

  • Initial transition is anticipated in the first quarter of 2008, initially employees transitioning 'as is', then further consultation is to occur on the new service.

  • Human Resources principles guiding the transition of affected employees will be in draft form and the PSA will be consulted on these.

  • Any details are still subject to Cabinet approval.

This is confirmation of rumours circulating agencies which had been reported to the PSA, despite no official decision being made by Cabinet. Members should continue to contact the PSA with details of any information so that it can be followed up with SSRO.

The PSA is expecting further details at the next Workforce Consultative Group (WCG) Meeting on 9th October 2007. The PSA will raise issues and concerns on behalf of members to ensure their interests are looked after. Regional members continue to face uncertainty due to lack of specific information from Government.

The PSA will continue to keep members informed of developments. Should you have any queries, please contact PSA Industrial Officer Josie Barbaro on jxb@cpsu.asn.au or 8205 3295.
