SELECTION PROCESS TURNAROUND - HOUSING SA

In a major change to the Selection process arising from the Housing Reform agenda, Housing Managers, Housing Support Coordinators, and Aboriginal Housing Officers will be directly transitioned to the new structure.
Housing Advisers (ASO3) will also be directly assigned to ASO4 positions under the relevant provisions of the PSM Act. Most members will not have to apply for their positions. Previously this had been required by Management, although many members' jobs had not changed significantly.

In addition, the Department has sought the PSA's consent to externally advertise the newly created Team Leader roles. In a show of good faith and in recognition of the the Department's ultimate powers to seek external applicants for new positions, the PSA has given its 'in principle' consent to this aspect of DFC's proposal.

The change in approach by DFC management is an important recognition that the restructure (which has been characterised by continual industrial disputation) is more likely to succeed if staffing decisions are based on fairness and flexibility.

It also recognises that a strong and active membership can achieve results for members in a climate of organizational uncertainty.

The above details ae confirmed by an exchange of letters between DFC and the PSA.

Further enquiries can be directed to PSA Industrial Officer Steve Acton on sja@cpsu.asn.au or 8205 3264.
