ALLOWANCES INCREASED
The following allowances have been increased from the firts pay period on or after 1 October 2007 in the S A Public Sector
Salaried Employees Interim Award (SAPSSEI Award). The last increase for these
allowances was the first pay period on or after 22 July 2006 and
these old rates are shown in brackets. The applicable Clause from
the SAPSSEI Award is also shown.

5.3.18.1 Pharmacist-in-Charge Allowance: a pharmacist classified as
a PSO1 or PSO2 level, who is nominated in charge of a pharmacy of a
public hospital on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, shall be
paid a pharmacist-in-charge allowance of $1.55 per hour ($1.50)

5.3.16 Supervising Radiographer Allowance $3.05 ($2.95) will be paid
each shift where applicable

5.3.9.1 Academic Allowance. An employee who is now classified as
ASO1 and who prior to 1 June 1991 was in receipt of an academic
allowance of $463 per annum will continue to be paid that allowance

5.3.13.1 Fisheries Officers Allowance

An
officer whilst at sea will be paid the following allowance, for each
completed 24 hour period or part thereof where such part is 7.5
hours or more. Commercial vessel in excess of 12 metres in length,
OPS3 = $145 ($140), OPS4 = $163 ($157), OPS5 = $176 ($170). Other
vessels, OPS3 $91 ($88), OPS4 $94 ($91), OPS5 $96 ($93)

5.3.13.6 Coxswains Certificate Allowance of $263 per annum ($254)

5.3.13.7 Master Class V Certificate of Competency shall be paid an
allowance of $445 per annum ($429)

5.3.17 Diving Allowance. Employees who are required to dive in
the normal course of their duties should be paid the following
allowances:

5.3.17.2 An employee who is an experienced diver in addition to
his/her ordinary rate will be paid an allowance of $29.35 ($28.30)
per week.

5.3.17.3 Where an employee on any day performs work as a Supervising
Diver $21.45 ($20.70)

5.3.17.4 An Employee, who on any day performs work as a diver in
addition to his/her ordinary classified rate be paid an allowance as
follows:

5.3.17.5 If an experienced diver (in addition to the allowance in
5.3.17.2 hereof) $39.80 ($38.40) per day.

5.3.17.6 If a trainee, $31.70 ($30.60) per day

The
above Award allowances were adjusted in accordance with the 2007
General Application to Review Award Wages Decision [2007] SAIR
Commission, by 3.66355%. The minutes for these increases were
settled in the Industrial Relations Commission on 4 December 2007.
The Department of Premier and Cabinet will then advise pay offices,
through the Chief Executive, of these increases.

Linguistics
Allowance, which is paid in accordance with the Part-time
Interpreters and Translators (Public Service) (SA) Award, has yet to
be adjusted, but will increase from $632.20 to $655.00 payable from
the first pay period on or after 1 October 2006.

On-call
allowance is paid as per Clause 10 of the South Australian
Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2006.

An
employee who is rostered to be on-call of a night time will be paid
an allowance of $13.40 ($12.90) for each night.

An
employee who is rostered to be on-call during a full Saturday,
Sunday or public holiday or any day that the employee would normally
be rostered off duty will be paid an allowance of $26.70 ($25.80)
per day.

Clause
5.3.3 of the SAPSSEI Award is the Safety Net only ($8.75 and
$19.45), and is not the rate paid.
Other
allowances, which include allowances for meals, incidentals and tea
money, (ie Clauses 8.2, 8.5, 8.6, 5.3.1.2, 5.3.1.3 and 5.3.13.4), are
to be increased from the first pay period on or after 23 December
2007. The allowances relating to South Australia will be increased
by the movement in the Adelaide Consumer Price Index (CPI) from the
September Quarter 2006 to the September Quarter 2007, which was 1.4%.
The
allowances relating to interstate will be increased by the movement
in the weighted average of eight capital cities CPI from the
September Quarter 2006 to the September Quarter 2007, which was 1.9%.
PSA
will advise members of the new rates after they have been approved by
the Industrial Relations Commission. Pay offices do not pay
increases until they receive official advice from the Public Sector
Workforce Division of the Department of the Premier & Cabinet.
Any back pay owing should then be paid.
