REVIEW OF PROFESSIONAL WORK LEVEL DEFINITIONS A meeting was held at the PSA on 17th December 2007 regarding the process for the development of the PSA submission to the review of the Work Level Definitions (WLDs) which were were introduced in the 2006 Wages Parity Enterprise Agreement. PSA President, Lindsay Oxlad, PSA Industrial Officers and a group of PSA members from various professional disciplines attended the meeting. Public Sector Workforce Division (PSWD) has written to the PSA outlining the process to guide the review of the new classification structure for Professional Officers, Medical Scientists and Grant Funded Scientists. The Terms of Reference for the review process are as follows: The South Australian Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2006 (the Agreement) introduced a new classification structure for Professional Officers, Medical Scientists and Grant Funded Scientists. Appendices 5,6 and 7 of the Agreement contain the Work Level Definitions which establish the framework for the classification of positions. Aim:
The PSA established a Working Group to develop the submission which is due by 16 March 2008. A further meeting of the Working Group will be held in the week commencing 14 January 2008, details to be confirmed in the new year. PSA will distribute a broad draft document to members outlining the main points for inclusion in the submission and inviting comments and feedback. It is important to utilise this opportunity to ensure the WLDs are appropriate and to address any barriers members have faced in dealing with classification issues. PSA will be conducting worksite meetings in the new year of various professional groups to ensure their issues are addressed in the Review. Further information relating to the review can be found on this website in the 'Professionals' section here. The PSA welcomes any further comments or queries in regards to this matter. It is important to ensure a broad range of views representative of public sector professional members are included. Please forward any queries or registration of interest to participate to PSA Assistant Chief Industrial Officer Gayle Peak gp@cpsu.asn.au or phone 8205 3288. PSA WORKING FOR YOU 19 December 2007 |
