PSSB RESTRUCTURE

On Thursday 17 January 2008, Public Service Association Industrial (PSA) Officer Keith Knipe along with PSSB work-site representatives Gary Hooper, Gayle Hughes and Peter Scanlon, attended a briefing session on the Police Security Service Branch – Protective Security Officers award conditions, pay rates and transition strategy.

The briefing was the same one that was to be presented to staff at on the following dates:

Wednesday 30 January 2008

Friday 1 February 2008

Tuesday 5 February 2008

Wednesday 6 February 2008

The Public Service Association (PSA) raised a number of concerns regarding Clause 13 of the SA Public Sector Salaried Employees Interim Award: Special Conditions for Employees Employed As Protective Security Officers.

13.1 Shift workers - why no mention of day and afternoon shift workers?

    13.3.1 Why a 38 hr week and not a 37.5 hr week?

13.3.4 Why is roster over six or seven days and not five or seven?

13.3.4 Notification of variation of rostered hours of shift, notification needs to be longer; should be at least 48 hours notice or penalty rates should apply.

13.6.2 Seven days notice of a roster change not acceptable; needs to be longer.

It was agreed that these issues would be negotiated once all staff had received the briefings. Any consultation will include at least 2 of the work-site representatives.

The PSA encourages all members to contact either PSA Industrial Officer Keith Knipe or one of their work-site representatives with any concerns they may have.

Any further queries, please contact: PSA Industrial Officer, Keith Knipe Phone : 8205 3297 or email kgk@cpsu.asn.au
