CHANGES TO DECS DISTRICT BOUNDARIES

The PSA recently met with DECS regarding the changes to district boundaries. The PSA presented DECS with feedback and concerns from members. DECS are in the process of collecting data and working through feedback from interested parties. They have not developed any proposed structures to date but as soon as they have some proposals they will provide them to the PSA for consultation.

Communications and Consultation strategies were discussed, as PSA members had made it clear that consultation processes in past restructures had not been adequate. DECS has assured the PSA that the PSA and it's members would be consulted throughout the process and feedback from PSA members is invaluable. DECS is developing a website to update staff and to provide another mechanism for feedback. DECS is also happy to continue to meet with District Office staff if invited.

DECS has requested feedback from PSA members regarding Leadership positions and Administration positions, for example; what is working well now; what should change; suggestions on the structure for these positions. The PSA will be meeting with members in District Offices shortly to discuss this and any other concerns.

PSA members who are not located in District Offices but who may have an interest in this issue should contact PSA Industrial Officer, Kerrin Martin, on ph: 8205 3292 or by email: kjm@cpsu.asn.au
