DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
DRAFT TRANSITION PLAN FOR ICT CENTRALISATION

During 2007, a study was undertaken by the Department of Health to determine the feasibility of centralising management of all information and communication technology (ICT) functions across SA Health under the control of the Chief Information Officer.

In December 2007, the Health Portfolio Executive approved this centralisation commencing 1 July 2008.

The following provides an overview of the 'in scope' health areas:

ICT SERVICES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

Strategy and Standards Branch, Projects Branch, Customer Service Branch, Delivery Services Branch.

COUNTRY HEALTH

7 Regional Offices, 42 health units, Ceduna/Koonibba Health Service, Pika Wiya Health Service.

CENTRAL NORTHERN ADELAIDE HEALTH SERVICE

Regional Office, Royal Adelaide Hospital, Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre and St Margaret's Rehabilitation Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital, Mental Health Northern and Western.

Modbury Hospital, Glenside Hospital (including Prison Health) Primary Health Care, Breast Screen SA, SA Dental Service.

SOUTHERN ADELAIDE HEALTH SERVICE

Regional Office, Flinders Medical Centre, Noarlunga Health Services, Drug and Alcohol Services SA, Repatriation General Hospital.

CHILDREN, YOUTH AND WOMEN'S HEALTH SERVICE

Regional Office, Women's and Children's Hospital, Child Youth Health.

IMVS and SA Pathology have been excluded from the transition process for the next 2 years.

A draft transition plan has been developed together with Human Resource Principles. The PSA is currently studying the plan in order to make comment to the Department of Health.

PSA is in the process of arranging a meeting with the Department of Health to discuss the draft HR principles and other issues members have brought to the attention of the PSA.

The PSA welcomes feedback from members concerning the impact of the transition plan particularly with examples of how changes will affect members.
