WORKCOVER CAMPAIGN

The WorkCover  legislation debate will continue in the Legislative Council of the SA Parliament over the next two weeks.

Parliament will be sitting from Tuesday 29th April until Thursday 1st May and again from 6th to 8th May.

The PSA, together with other Unions and community organisations is continuing to campaign against the proposed cuts to injured workers benefits.  If the current legislation goes through the Upper House, without amendments being made, there will be significant cuts to injured workers entitlements.

An injured worker earning $800 per week will be over $5,000 worse off in the first 12 months under Premier Rann's proposals.

PSA members are encouraged to attend Parliament House over the next two weeks as the legislation continues to be debated.  Attendance during question time from 2.00pm to 3.00pm is recommended.  Politicians need to be reminded that the South Australian community does not accept that cutting injured workers' income is fair.

Minor Parties and Independents in the Upper House will oppose the proposed changes.  Please attend and show them that you value their stance.

The May Day March (10.00am on Saturday, 3 May at Victoria Square) will also focus on WorkCover.  Members and their families are encouraged to attend.
