DON'T GAMBLE WITH YOUR RIGHTS AT WORK

In a community/media event today, Wed 30 April, PSA General Secretary  Jan McMahon will highlight the gamble on their income workers will be taking if they are injured at work.

PSA will be handing out 1000 instant scratchie tickets to members of the public at 12 noon in front of the Casino, North Tce as part of this event.

Legislation introduced by Premier Rann will attack the rights, and cut the pay, of injured workers by:

 * Cutting wages to 90% after 13 weeks
 * Cutting wages to 80% after 26 weeks
 * Removing most workers off the scheme after 2.5 years
 * Restricting access to lump sum compensation
 * Allowing the immediate cessation of workers' weekly payments

PSA members carrying out the Government's policies, will have their protections reduced if they are injured. Should the legislation be passed, PSA is working with members to determine how to make their jobs safer, including by not working alone or with insufficient staff in risky situations.

May Day March

Saturday 3rd May, 10 am Victoria Square.  The march will conclude at the Barr Smith lawns, University of Adelaide.  This year march to tell Premier Rann to stop attacking the rights of injured workers.  Kids entertainment - Ticklish Allsorts and a bouncy castle.
