WORKERS COMPENSATION - DO YOU HAVE ANY CURRENT ENTITLEMENT?
The PSA is continuing to campaign against the Governments WorkCover legislation which will harm injured workers. It is important however, for members who have had an accepted workers compensation claim and have entitlements under Section 43 (Permanent Disability) that any claim for scarring be made as soon as possible. Therefore, if you have had an injury, accident or operation, that has resulted in scarring or disfigurement accepted under workers compensation, then you should contact the PSA urgently. To claim for scarring you need evidence of your accepted workers compensation claim and a clear photograph of the scarring. The PSA can then assist you in making a claim under Section 43 of the current legislation. The Government changes will be again debated in the Upper House from 3 June and in the event that the legislation is passed, compensation for scarring will change, and claims made after the legislation has changed will be unlikely to be successful because of the severe restrictions in the legislation. If you have any questions or queries in relation to this, please contact Gayle Peak on gp@cpsu.asn.au
